Biography

With a Bachelor of Tourism Management with Distinctions (Vancouver Island University, 2002), Carley has held positions in diverse tourism-related settings including: Cook Islands Tourism Corporation in the South Pacific; International Aboriginal Youth Program in Guyana; international tourism Field School in Malaysia; and several positions with Parks Canada based on Vancouver Island. Since 2008, Carley’s work has focused on engaging Indigenous Peoples in heritage place management across the Parks Canada system. She currently works with Parks Canada’s national Indigenous Affairs and External Relations and Visitor Experience teams, where she is leading projects on tourism-based collaborations to advance Indigenous tourism and other economic opportunities. With family connections to Wales, Germany, Scotland, Secwepemc Nation, Carley resides near Sproat Lake, British Columbia, Canada.
